Merger for SF Architectural Firm

San Francisco's largest female-owned architectural firm, SMWM, has joined the international design firm Perkins + Will.

The merger announced Friday will move SMWM's 40 employees now housed at 989 Market St. to the Perkins + Will office at 185 Berry St.

While SMWM has been involved in the design of such buildings as San Francisco's New Main Library, it is best known as the architectural firm that led the design team for the renovation of the landmark Ferry Building into a popular retail destination. Its planning division was involved with mapping out the new Mission Bay neighborhood as well as shaping the future for Treasure Island.
